Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Honda CB650R (2019–2026) PM201S

A new CB650R does not need this element on the day it is delivered. The paper panel Honda fits is doing its job and will keep doing it until the maintenance schedule says otherwise. The moment worth marking in the service book is the one where that panel would be lifted out and binned: at that service the airbox is already open, the labour is already being paid for, and the only question left is what goes back in. Fit the Sprint Filter P08 there and it costs nothing beyond work that was booked anyway — and it is the last time this line in the schedule ends with a purchase.

The service where the decision is actually made

Nothing about this is urgent, and that is rather the point. No reason exists to open an airbox early for a part that adds no power — a middleweight four gains nothing measurable from a filter. What it offers is timing. Fitted during scheduled work it disappears into a job you were already having done, and from then on the element is inspected and cleaned rather than ordered and replaced. The one case for going sooner is a used CB650R whose history you cannot read.

What the schedule looks like afterwards

From that service on, this entry stops being a spare part on an order sheet and becomes a task. Take the element out, hold it up to the light, clean it, put it back the same afternoon. There is nothing to stock and nothing to order ahead, so the job no longer waits on whether a counter has the part that week. Sprint Filter builds the P08 to stay with the motorcycle rather than be used up by it, so a small recurring bill turns into a short recurring decision: air this time, or air and a wash.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air, held on the clean face and pushed outward, is what the PM201S needs most of the time. When a wet or gritty season has left more behind than air will shift, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild washing-up detergent and rinse until the water comes away clear. Then leave it in open air to dry on its own: no heat gun, no radiator, no flame near it, because the medium is polyester and heat is what ruins it. It goes back in dry, with nothing sprayed on.
