The Aligned Version
Two bolts on a single axis. Which of the two patterns a bike takes is decided by the master cylinder clamp rather than by the model designation.
The Catalogue Starts at the Block
Ducati sells no individual switch. On an eight-year-old motorcycle one hesitant contact therefore means the whole assembly at whatever the parts counter quotes.
Converted, Not Covered
The colour is grown into the aluminium in an electrolytic bath. There is no film on the surface, so a decade of gloves and sunlight has nothing to work on.
A Terminal, Slowly
Water reaches it, oxidises the surface and adds resistance. The switch works, then works sometimes, then does not, and the decline is measured in seasons rather than weeks.
Twenty Minutes
Two fasteners and one plug. Nothing is spliced, so the original goes back on before a sale in exactly the same time and leaves no trace.
Dimensional Consistency
Machining produces identical parts indefinitely where moulding tools wear. That difference shows up as fitment rather than as anything visible on a photograph.
A Sports Bike for Journeys
A hundred and thirteen horsepower, a full fairing and bars a person can reach for three hours. Ducati aimed it at riders who had owned superbikes and stopped enjoying them.
A Screen That Moves
Fifty millimetres of adjustment by hand at a standstill. On a motorcycle intended for real distance it does more for usability than most of the electronics.
A Trellis Underneath
Ducati built the SuperSport around a conventional steel frame while its superbikes had abandoned them. At road speeds the difference in feel is real and part of why the bike works.
