Bolts in Line
The aligned pattern for one of the two clamp types. On an SP, which is frequently changed at the lever end, it is worth establishing rather than assuming.
One Part Number at Ducati
The switches are not sold apart from the block. A single dead contact means the whole assembly, which is the practical reason a milled replacement makes sense at all.
A Finish That Cannot Peel
Anodising grows into the aluminium electrolytically rather than sitting on it. On a motorcycle that will be laid down at some point, that is a more relevant property than it sounds.
A Season of Warning
Corrosion at a terminal produces an intermittent fault long before a permanent one. Most owners live with a switch that sometimes works for a year before doing anything about it.
Undone as Easily as Done
Nothing is spliced, so the original block goes back on in twenty minutes. On a bike whose value depends on being unmolested, that reversibility is worth something.
Tolerance Across a Production Run
A machining centre holds a dimension indefinitely. An injection tool does not, which is why two nominally identical moulded blocks can fit noticeably differently.
Öhlins and More Travel
The SP carries better damping and longer suspension at both ends. The extra ride height sharpens the geometry considerably and puts the seat beyond a fair number of riders.
Marchesini Forged Rims
Rotating mass removed where it costs the most. On a motorcycle this light it is felt at every change of direction rather than only under acceleration.
Bought to Be Used
SPs go over. That is not a criticism; it is what happens when a supermoto is ridden as designed, and the components on the bar should be chosen with that in view.
