The Offset Arrangement
Staggered mounting holes rather than aligned ones. Two patterns exist because the master cylinder clamps on these motorcycles come in two forms and neither serves for both.
Not Visible in a Photograph
The distinction survives no catalogue image. Establishing it from the bike takes two minutes and prevents the most common ordering error in this whole category.
Since 2007
Ducati has been building a large-capacity supermoto for eighteen years and the competition has never really arrived. It is an unusual position to hold for that long in any segment.
Adjustable Wheelie Control
Levels rather than a system that simply prevents them. On this motorcycle that distinction is the difference between a rider aid and something that gets switched off on the first ride.
Two Finishes
Black and titanium, converted into the metal. On a bike with essentially no bodywork the handlebar is looked at constantly and there is nothing here to chip.
Sealed Elements
Enclosed within the machined body. Grit reaches a moulded joint and, unlike water, never dries out of it again.
A Hundred and Eighty-One Kilograms Wet
With 114 horsepower and wide bars. The numbers understate the bike considerably; supermotos are quicker on real roads than their specifications suggest.
Ergal 7075
Roughly twice as strong as ordinary machined aluminium. On a motorcycle that goes over as part of normal use, that is the entire reason for the material choice.
Factory Connector
Pre-wired to Ducati's plug, nothing cut. The exchange is mechanical and reverses as quickly as it was made.
A Format With No Competition
Nobody else builds a large-capacity supermoto with this level of finish, and Ducati has been at it since 2007. Rivals have appeared and left, usually because the category is small and the development cost is not, which leaves the Hypermotard in a strange and comfortable position.
