Where the Operations Accumulate
Indicators in traffic, modes on back roads, the display everywhere. On a supermoto used as broadly as this one, the left block is worked continuously through a season.
Surface Markings
Ducati prints its legends onto the moulded shell and ultraviolet removes them within a few years. There is nothing printed on a machined body to be lost.
Heat, Then None
The bar area cycles through a wide temperature range every ride. Moulded plastic takes a permanent set under that treatment; aluminium is entirely unaffected.
Snap Fittings
The original is two pieces clipped together, under the vibration of a 937 cc twin. After several years they stop holding tightly and the resulting play does not resolve.
Colour With Thickness
An anodised layer measured in microns and part of the aluminium itself. A scratch reveals more coloured surface rather than bright metal beneath a chip.
Undone in Twenty Minutes
Nothing spliced anywhere in the harness. The standard block returns just as quickly, which keeps the motorcycle straightforward for whoever owns it next.
Euro 4 Improved It
The capacity went from 821 to 937 cc because of emissions rules and the engine gained torque without losing anything. Regulation does not usually work that way.
Two Hundred and Nine Kilograms Wet
Including fuel, which for a motorcycle with this much suspension travel and a full electronics package is respectable rather than remarkable. It is light enough that the 113 horsepower never feels like the limiting factor on a road.
A Chassis Borrowed Upward
The 939's trellis and swingarm were shared with the Hyperstrada and closely related to the Monster's. Ducati has always built its middleweights from a common set of ideas, which is why they age at similar rates.
