Two Hundred and Sixty-Eight Kilograms
Wet, which is enormous and completely irrelevant once the motorcycle is moving. The ZZR carries its mass better than any bike of its size.
A Hyperbike
The category barely exists any more, and the ZZR1400 was the last serious entry. Nothing currently on sale does the same job.
A Short Life
Compared with anything else electrical on the motorcycle the sidestand switch is a consumable. High-mileage machines have usually had one replaced already.
Refit Before Selling
A buyer expects the safety systems to work as described, and putting the standard switch back is a five-minute job that avoids the conversation entirely.
On a Bike Left Outside
Motorcycles parked in the open lose sidestand switches faster than anything else electrical, because the component is closest to the ground and furthest from any shelter.
A Question Worth Asking
Is the stand still on the motorcycle? If it is, the interlock is protecting against a real mistake and a new switch is the better answer.
Track Preparation
Lights, mirrors, plate and stand come off in the first evening, and the eliminator goes on immediately afterwards so the rest of the work can be tested.
Mud on an Adventure Bike
The mechanism packs solid on a wet green lane, and a packed switch reports a deployed stand entirely on its own. Owners of the Versys models meet this considerably more often than anybody else in the range.
Two Hundred and Sixty-Eight Kilograms
The ZZR is very heavy and puts a great deal of load through its sidestand at every stop. Bent brackets and damaged switches are correspondingly more common than on lighter machines.
