The JP ES 022 answers the side stand input on the Hypermotard 950 RVE, which is what the engine controller reads before it decides whether the motorcycle may run in gear.

Between the Base and the SP
The RVE adds equipment without the SP's suspension, which for road riders is frequently the more sensible combination of the two.
Where the Switch Lives
Bolted to the stand bracket, low on the left, directly in the spray from the front wheel and within reach of every pressure lance aimed at a swingarm.
On a Panigale
The stand comes off with the lights, the mirrors and the plate in the first evening. Very few track-prepared superbikes keep one.
A Failure That Escalates
Intermittent at first, then more frequent, then permanent. Owners generally act at the second stage and wish they had acted at the first.
Salt Finds It First
Everything low on the left of a motorcycle used through a European winter spends months in salt spray, and this switch is closest to the road.
Ordinary Tools
A socket for the bracket and fingers for the connector. There is nothing specialist about any part of this job at any stage.
Nothing Is Cut
The eliminator plugs into the connector the switch used, so the loom stays exactly as Ducati built it. That is what makes refitting the standard switch a two-minute job rather than a wiring repair somebody has to unpick later.
What Comes Off With the Stand
The stand itself, the bracket that carries it, the spring and the switch with its wiring. On most models that is close to a kilogramme in a place where the mass is genuinely unhelpful, which is the reason racing machines have never carried any of it.
