A Supermoto With a V-Twin
Ninety-two horsepower from 750 cc in a chassis with seventeen inch wheels and long travel. Nothing else in the class combined those in quite this way.
Ride by Wire in 2008
Aprilia fitted a fully electronic throttle with three maps when almost every rival still used a cable. The Dorsoduro and the Shiver were among the first road bikes anywhere with one.
Why the Stand Comes Off
Supermoto lean angles reach the point where a stand touches down, and a bike used on a kart circuit loses it in the first evening of preparation.
The Input Goes With It
The switch is bolted to the stand bracket. Once both are gone the controller cannot confirm the stand is retracted and stops the engine in gear.
Satisfied Properly
This unit gives the controller the state it expects rather than shorting terminals. The panel stays clear and nothing is stored.
An Ageing Switch
On a bike this old the standard switch is often the problem rather than the stand. Corrosion produces intermittent cutting out that is very hard to trace.

Aprilia left the large supermoto class entirely and nothing in the current range does the same job. Owners keep these running because replacing one with an equivalent motorcycle is simply not possible any more.
