The Staggered Pattern
Where the aligned clamp has its two bolt holes on a line square to the handlebar, this one has them offset. The difference is a few millimetres and it is absolute: the clamp either bolts to the master cylinder or it does not.
On a Competition Bike
Two-button right switches belong to JetPrime's race and Sport lines, so this clamp is almost always going onto a prepared machine. Those bikes run master cylinders chosen by the builder rather than the manufacturer, which is exactly why both hole patterns need to exist.
A Cheap Insurance Policy
The clamp is the component that takes the load when a bike goes down on its right side. Carrying a spare in the van costs very little next to the alternative of a session missed because the switch will not mount.
Offset on a Race Master Cylinder
Machines built to this level run master cylinders chosen by whoever assembled them — a Brembo RCS, a full race unit, occasionally something adapted from another manufacturer. The clamp geometry follows from that choice rather than from what the motorcycle left the factory with, and it has to be read off the bike.
A Few Millimetres, Absolutely
The difference between the two patterns is small enough to be missed in a photograph taken at the wrong angle and large enough that the wrong part simply will not bolt on. There is no adapter, no elongated hole and no way to persuade one to fit the other. Getting it right first time is the only sensible approach.
Why Both Exist at All
Master cylinder castings have to accommodate a fluid passage, a reservoir mount and a lever pivot in a small volume. Where a symmetrical bolt pattern would run through one of those, the maker offsets it. Both arrangements are common, neither is going away, and JetPrime make a clamp for each.
