DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 018 B caps the earlier S1000RR's secondary air ports with covers machined from solid.
Key Features
- BMW S1000RR (2009–2018)
- Blanks the secondary air ports in the cylinder head
- Machined from solid aluminium
- O-ring sealed, no jointing compound
- Original fastener positions
- Standard housing refits at any time
Which Generation
This part covers the RR before the 2019 redesign. BMW changed the cylinder head arrangement with ShiftCam and the later bikes take a different cover.
What Sits on the Head
A reed housing per bank of ports, plumbed to the airbox. It is the half of the system that physically admits air into the exhaust.
Plastic at Head Temperature
The housing endures the widest thermal swing on the motorcycle. Reeds crack with age rather than mileage, and a cracked reed passes exhaust gas back towards the filter.
The Original Superbike
The 2009 S1000RR redefined what a litre bike cost and what it came with. Race ABS and traction control as standard were unheard of at the price.
Asymmetric Headlights
BMW's designers gave the first RR a face nobody could mistake, and the market was divided for a decade before deciding it liked them.
Now Affordable
Depreciation has put the K46 generation within reach of riders who would never have bought one new, and a great many are used at circuits.
Machined and O-Ring Sealed
Turned aluminium against the head face, with nothing inside to perish and no service interval attached.
The Airbox Plug Too
Blanking the head leaves the hose port in the airbox open. The complete kit covers both and either alone leaves the job unfinished.
Original Fasteners
BMW's own positions and torque values, with nothing drilled anywhere in the head.
Homologation
Where the system forms part of the approval, removing it ends road legality.
Gear Shift Assist Pro
BMW offered a bidirectional quickshifter early and made it work properly in both directions rather than only on the way up. On a circuit it removes a whole category of error from the rider's workload.
