What Sits on Each Bank
A moulded housing holding a reed, connected to the airbox by a hose and bolted directly to the cylinder head. It is the component that physically admits air and it survives any amount of electrical work untouched.
The Rear Bank Is the Job
Reaching the forward head is straightforward and the one behind it means the airbox out. Anyone doing this should plan it into a session where the bike is already apart rather than as a standalone evening.
Why Aluminium Instead
A moulding bolted to a cylinder head endures the widest temperature swing on the whole motorcycle, and after enough of those the reed splits and the sealing face distorts. A turned plug simply does not have anything that can do either.
A Groove and a Ring
The seal is an O-ring seated in a machined groove rather than compound spread on a flat face. It separates cleanly years afterwards and leaves no residue on the head to scrape away.
Neither Bank on Its Own
Closing one side while the other stays open changes nothing that can be measured. The pair is supplied together because the deletion only exists once both are done.
Wide Bars and No Fairing
The Factory puts a superbike engine under a rider sitting upright in clean air, which is exactly why the exhaust note reaches them so directly and why the overrun becomes a talking point after a system change.
Readings Worth Trusting
A wideband sensor cannot distinguish air that came through the cylinder from air introduced after it. Every fuelling decision built on a run with the system still live inherits that confusion.
Factory Torque Figures
The plugs use Aprilia's own bolt positions and the head is not drilled, tapped or modified in any way an inspection would notice.
The Solenoid Is Separate
Its circuit is watched independently, so the electrical eliminator remains the part that keeps the instrument panel clear.
Nothing Is Consumed
Both original housings refit on their own fasteners whenever the motorcycle goes back to standard.
