The JP MJ 007 is the Memjet EVO power module for the 990 Duke R, a preset fuel module that corrects the mixture without anything being written to the motorcycle's own electronics.

And With an Open Filter
More air on the intake side has the same effect from the other direction. The standard closed-loop correction handles part of it and runs out of authority for the rest, particularly at larger throttle openings.
Vibration and Water
The module lives on a motorcycle and is built accordingly, sealed as a unit and secured rather than left hanging. Neither is remarkable; both are necessary.
With a Sports Filter
The effect mirrors an exhaust change and the answer is the same. Owners who fit both are further from the factory mixture than either change alone would put them.
Not a Season-Long Project
Some tuning components lead to a winter of adjustment. This one is fitted in an afternoon and then behaves identically for the next decade.
Before a Dealer Visit
Most owners unplug it. It takes five minutes, leaves the connectors as they were and removes a conversation that is easier avoided than had.
Not an Exhaust Substitute
A module changes fuelling, not gas flow. Riders hoping for the noise or the weight saving of an aftermarket silencer will be disappointed, because it does neither of those things.
Six Cylinders
At the other extreme, an inline six is so smooth that a lean patch is easy to miss. The correction still applies; the rider simply has less to compare it against.
Sold to Be Ridden Hard
KTM aims the R at owners who take a naked bike to circuits, which means a great many of these machines gain an exhaust within the first year. That is the change that moves the mixture furthest from what the factory calibrated, and it is why a fuel correction turns up on the same shopping list.
