DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 030 pulls the Tiger 800's charcoal filter off and vents the tank through a proper fitting.
Key Features
- Triumph Tiger 800 (2011–2017)
- Removes the evaporative canister and its hoses
- Vents the tank through a proper fitting
- Closes the purge valve circuit
- Clears the space behind the engine
- Standard parts refit at any time
The 2015 Update
Ride by wire, riding modes and traction control arrived, which brought the Tiger up to where the class had moved while it was not looking.
The 2018 Revision
A new exhaust, a lighter clutch, a colour screen and revised gearing. It was the last significant change before the Tiger 900 replaced the model.
Where Triumph Hides It
Behind the engine or under the tail depending on the model, with three hoses and a bracket. It is never anywhere convenient.
Ethanol and Charcoal
Modern fuel blends age the bed faster than the petrol the system was designed around, which is one reason older canisters are so frequently saturated.
Ordinary Hand Tools
A socket, a screwdriver for the clips and somewhere to put the seat. Nothing else is required at any stage of the work.
A Sensible Order of Work
Mechanical first, electrical last. Fitting the circuit answer before the vessel is out simply means testing twice and reaching the same place.
The Vent Faces Down
Routed away from the exhaust and clear of the swingarm, terminating in a fitting rather than a raw hose end. Getting that detail right prevents most of the complaints attributed to canister removal.
Photograph Everything First
The routing is genuinely hard to reconstruct from memory, particularly where a hose passes behind the frame. Two minutes with a camera turns a future refit from guesswork into a straightforward reversal.
A Bike Kept Outside
Sun, temperature swings and a full tank between rides. Every one of those works the evaporative system harder than riding does.
The First Generation
This fitment covers the earlier bikes, before ride by wire and riding modes arrived in 2015. They are simpler machines with fewer things to go wrong, which a certain kind of owner regards as an advantage rather than a shortcoming.
