The Same Engine
Triumph did not tune the R differently. The money went entirely into the chassis, which on a bike with this much torque is the correct decision.
A Track Day Regular
The R is the version that appears at circuits, because the suspension makes the exercise genuinely worthwhile rather than merely possible.
An Open Hose Is Not Equivalent
It works until the motorcycle is transported on its side or dropped in a car park, and then it demonstrates why the fitting exists.
Exhaust Hangers
Aftermarket silencers mount in the same congested area, and clearing the vessel is frequently what turns a difficult fit into a straightforward one.
A Component Nobody Services
There is no inspection, no replacement interval and no diagnostic that reports a tired bed. It simply degrades until the symptoms appear.
A Component With No Diagnostic
Nothing on the motorcycle reports a saturated bed. There is no warning, no code and no service check, which is why the resulting symptoms get blamed on almost everything else first.
Track Preparation Removes It Early
Alongside the mirrors, the plate hanger and the lights. It is on the same list for the same reason: it exists for the road and the motorcycle is no longer on one.
The Weight Is Not the Point
A kilogram and a half changes nothing about how the motorcycle rides. The space, the access and the removal of a component that fails without warning are the actual reasons anybody does this.
Not the Fuel Pump
Hard starting gets blamed on the pump regularly, and a pump is an expensive thing to replace on a hunch. Checking the evaporative system first is free.
