The JP ES 051 takes the V-Strom 1050's evaporative canister out and vents the tank through a proper fitting.

Vapour and Charcoal
A warm tank builds pressure and the vapour has to be captured rather than released. The canister holds it until the intake draws it through.
Awkwardly Placed
Behind the engine among the shock, the linkage and the exhaust. On a bike carrying luggage and a pillion, that area is worked on more often than any other.
Low RPM Assist
Suzuki's system raises idle slightly as the clutch engages, which makes the 1050 almost impossible to stall. Off tarmac and fully loaded, it is worth more than any rider aid.
Spoked Wheels on the DE
Tubeless spoked rims with a twenty-one inch front. Suzuki built the DE for riders who genuinely leave the road rather than for those who like the idea.
Why Remove It
Access and reliability. A saturated canister causes hard starting a long way from a workshop, and the hoses are among the first things to chafe on a rough road.
A Real Vent
The tank still breathes, through a fitting rather than an open pipe. On a bike that gets dropped and picked up again this is not a detail.
The Monitored Valve
European specification watches the purge solenoid electrically. The circuit is closed so nothing is stored and the dash stays clean.
Seven Model Years
The fitment covers 2020 to 2026 including the DE. Suzuki has not altered the evaporative arrangement across the run.
Weight Behind the Engine
Around a kilogram and a half of vessel, hose and bracket, mounted high. On a tall bike that is exactly where mass is least welcome.
Reversible
Every original component refits in its own position. Nothing is cut and nothing is consumed.
