That is not a typographical error and it is not a marketing figure — it is what happens when a catalytic converter and its housing leave a motorcycle.

Eighteen Decibels Is the Whole Story
92 dB standard to 110.3 at 4,125 rpm. That is the largest noise increase of any part in this catalogue by some way, and it needs stating before anything else on this page.
An FTR with this pipe fitted is loud in a way that will end a track day at most European circuits and attract attention anywhere else. The performance figures are real, and so is this. Anyone who reads only the torque number is reading half the page.
It Works With the Standard Muffler
Unusual, and worth knowing. Akrapovic designed this pipe to fit either the factory silencer or its own low and high mount systems — including the ones Indian sold as a factory accessory.
That makes it the cheapest meaningful change available to an FTR owner: no new silencer needed, one part, twenty minutes.
Where Five Kilograms Was Hiding
Under the engine, in a converter housing sized to clear Euro 4 on a 1,203 cc V-twin. Indian had nowhere elegant to put it, so it went in the link pipe, and the link pipe became the heaviest single component of the exhaust.
Taking 5.05 kg out of the lowest point of a 230 kg motorcycle is a genuine change in how the bike falls into a turn — more than the horsepower figure will ever be.
Torque, Not Power
119.4 PS to 120.6, which is nothing. 113.7 Nm to 116.6 with a recorded gain of 8.2 Nm at 4,600 rpm, which is a great deal.
A flat-track-styled V-twin is ridden on torque in the middle of the range, and 4,600 rpm is exactly where an FTR lives on a back road. That is the number that describes this part.
Twenty Minutes
The quickest fitting time of anything in this group. The pipe sits between the headers and the silencer with clamps at both ends, and there is nothing else to disturb.
Two Model Years
The part covers the FTR 1200 and FTR 1200 S for 2019 and 2020. Indian revised the machine for 2021 with a different exhaust, and later bikes need a different part.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use. Removing the catalytic converter is what makes it work, and no approval survives that.
