DescriptionThe whole story▼

There is a moment on every tour that has nothing to do with riding: the loaded bike standing on a wet slope, front wheel pointing uphill, waiting for a barrier or a ferry ramp, one foot down and the rear brake holding the weight. Accossato's Sintered (ST) material on the AGPP91 rear pad is chosen by people who put the BMW F 850 GS of 2018 to 2023 into situations like that in every kind of weather.

Key Features

  • Rear pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, article number AGPP91ST
  • For the BMW F 850 GS, model years 2018 to 2023
  • Accossato describes an unchanging grip level hot or cold, and no loss of it on a wet disc
  • Aimed at wet, slow-speed work with a loaded machine
  • One rear caliper, one box, two pads
  • OR and STMX materials are offered on the same plate
  • Front of this bike: AGPA92 across the same years
  • Nothing on file documents it for the road; competition part

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's account of the sintered material comes down to staying the same. It offers one grip level whether cold or hot, and a wet disc does not reduce it. At the rear of a travel enduro the wet half of that promise matters most, because the rear disc is showered by the tyre all day and is rarely dry for long in poor weather. A pad that needs a revolution or two to clear the water before it answers is a nuisance at low speed, and low speed is where the rear brake does most of its work. The plate is the widely used AGPP91; two pads fill the one rear caliper.

Holding Still on a Wet Slope

Low-speed work with a loaded bike is a matter of confidence, and confidence comes from knowing what a control will do before you use it. Holding an F 850 GS still on a wet incline, walking it backwards into a space between two cars, or creeping down a slippery boat ramp all depend on the rear brake behaving exactly as it did the previous hundred times. So does the moment when you set off again on that same slope, releasing the pedal against the clutch without letting the bike roll back onto your foot. None of this generates any heat whatsoever, but all of it happens in the wet, in the dirt, and usually with somebody watching. It is also a good reason to keep the rear caliper clean, since a piston reluctant to move will make the pedal vague long before the material has run out.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's catalogue puts the AGPP91 at the rear of the BMW F 850 GS between 2018 and 2023, matching the years it gives for the front. There is a single caliper behind, so one box is all the bike needs, and the two pads in it are fitted as a pair. The same plate carries the OR and STMX materials as well, the front of the F 850 GS runs the AGPA92 over the same span, and Accossato also lists the DK006 disc for this machine.

Road Approval

Accossato supplies the AGPP91ST with no German ABE, and no approval certificate for it exists in our records. It is therefore intended for competition and for closed-circuit riding.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPP91 pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, the set for one rear caliper.
