Hard enduro routes are full of steps: a rock ledge, a fallen trunk, a bank that drops away more steeply than it looked. Going down one on a KTM 500 EXC-F means the front wheel is in the air or pointing at the ground for a moment, and during that moment the rear brake does the controlling. Accossato lists the DK018 as the rear disc for the 500 EXC-F from 2012 to 2026, a fixed one-piece disc, 220 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato counts the DK018 among its off-road discs and makes it as a fixed disc, so friction surface and mounting area are one part. The supplier calls it steel-made; it has a 110 mm opening and is 4 mm thick. Accossato, which is based today in Villastellone near Turin, says the design of its discs builds on its experience in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3. A figure printed on the disc shows the thickness at which it has to be replaced, because, as the company warns, a worn disc can break under extreme stress.
Dropping Off a Ledge
The technique is well known among hard enduro riders. Approach slowly and upright, in a low gear, with the weight back and the arms loose. As the front wheel goes over the edge, keep off the front brake, because a braked front wheel landing on a lower step can tuck and throw you over the bars. Hold the speed with the rear brake instead, gently, so the rear tyre keeps rolling rather than sliding, and let go as the front wheel lands. Once both wheels are on the lower level, use both brakes as normal.
At that moment the rear brake has to respond precisely to small changes in pressure. A rear disc with deep grooves or a bend makes the pedal feel inconsistent, which is the last thing you want with the front wheel in the air. Steps and ledges also bring the rear disc close to rock edges, so look at it after such sections: nicks on the edge, bright scrape marks and a wobble when the wheel turns are signs of contact. On a big single like the 500 EXC-F the engine helps to hold the bike back, but the fine control still comes from the rear brake.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the DK018 for the KTM 500 EXC-F over the whole period from 2012 to 2026, and it goes on in place of the original rear disc. The 500 EXC-F has one rear disc. Two front discs appear for the same bike, the DK017 for 2012 to 2023 and the DK259 for 2012 to 2024. On Accossato's lever list, the B8283 and C7283 are the matching parts for the handlebar.
Road Approval
For the DK018 there is no German ABE and no type approval on record. It is sold for off-road riding and competition.
