DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Speed Triple 1050 S is at home on roads that reward planning: a lane that tightens without warning, a line of bends across a hillside, a crest with a junction behind it. On roads you do not know, the classic advice is to finish most of your braking before the bend, while the bike is still upright. The Accossato EDF099 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the S of 2016 to 2020. It fits the original master cylinder, and its reach can be set so that the blade meets your fingers where they naturally fall.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Speed Triple 1050 S, 2016 to 2020
- Sits on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable to the size of your hand
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm; short and long versions too
- Anodised aluminium, machined on CNC equipment
- Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
- Fixed blade, no hinge
- Individually boxed
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the EDF099 from aluminium and anodises it. Every version has a black hub holding the pivot and the reach adjuster, and a coloured blade that forms one fixed piece with it, without a folding joint. Since the colour is created within the anodised surface rather than painted on, it copes with rain, road grime and the cleaning that follows a wet ride. The machined edges give gloved fingers the same clean contact on every ride, which is part of what makes a brake feel predictable.
Brake Before the Bend
On the road you rarely know exactly what lies around the next corner: gravel, a tractor, a tighter radius than the first part of the bend suggested. That is why many riding instructors teach road riders to reduce speed to their chosen corner speed while the bike is still upright, then come off the brake smoothly and turn in with a neutral or gently opening throttle. Braking upright uses the tyre's grip for slowing down alone, and it leaves a margin in reserve for whatever the bend reveals. On the Speed Triple 1050 S the front brake does most of that slowing, so the lever has to be easy to reach early, as soon as you have identified the bend. Set the EDF099 with your usual road gloves on: seated, hand resting on the grip, you should reach the blade without bending the wrist. The standard blade suits this kind of riding and is made in all seven colours; the long one, in blue, gold, green or orange, gives extra leverage to anyone who squeezes with four fingers.
Fitment and Compatibility
On the Speed Triple 1050 S, the EDF099 is listed for every model year from 2016 to 2020 and mounts on the original master cylinder. The clutch side of the same bike is covered by the EST333P, also listed from 2016 to 2020, which can be ordered in a matching colour and length.
Road Approval
Because no German ABE is documented, this lever is sold for circuit use.
