Ask a track instructor about body position and the conversation soon turns to hands. Hang off a Speed Triple 1050 R into a right-hander and your right forearm folds, so your wrist meets the brake lever at a different angle from the one it has on the way into a left-hander. The EDF099 is Accossato's machined aluminium brake lever for the R of 2016 and 2017. Its reach adjuster lets you look for one lever position that works on both sides of the bike.

Construction and Material Quality
The EDF099 is milled on CNC machines and then anodised, a process that converts the surface of the aluminium into a hard oxide layer and fixes the colour inside it. The result is a two-tone lever. Its black hub contains the pivot and the adjuster; its blade shows whichever colour you ordered. No hinge divides the two. As a fixed lever, the EDF099 keeps the link between the position of your fingers and the movement of the master cylinder piston constant, session after session.
Hanging Off and the Right Hand
Hanging off means shifting your hips towards the inside of the corner and bringing the upper body down and across, so the bike needs less lean for the same speed. The arms have to follow. In a left-hander the right arm stretches over the tank and the right wrist tends to drop; in a right-hander the right elbow bends and tucks in, and the wrist rolls the other way. Because the front brake is often still in use as you turn in, your fingers need to find the blade in both positions. A useful way to set up the EDF099 is on a paddock stand, in your leathers and race gloves. Move across the seat to the left, then to the right, and note where your braking fingers land on the blade each time. Then choose the reach that works in both positions rather than the one that feels right when you sit upright in the pit lane. On the Speed Triple 1050 R that may end up slightly closer to the grip than your road setting.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF099 for the Speed Triple 1050 R from 2016; as Triumph replaced the R with the RS for 2018, this product covers the 2016 and 2017 bikes. The R models of 2012 to 2015 are listed with the EDF011 instead, so it pays to confirm your model year first. The matching clutch lever for the 2016 and 2017 bike is the EST333P; for the earlier R, Accossato lists the EST333.
Road Approval
The EDF099 has no documented German ABE. We sell it for the racetrack.
