DescriptionThe whole story

Every tenth on a V4 Superleggera is bought between the brake light and the apex. ZCOO's shape here is the B005: 42.0 mm tall, 102.2 mm long, 8.05 mm deep. In the B005 the mixture is ceramic-sintered EX Race, mixed for a flat curve rather than a sharp first bite.

Key Features

  • Resists glazing under sustained pressure, which is what ends most organic pads on a V4 Superleggera
  • Consistent lever travel as the pad thins, so the bite point on the V4 Superleggera does not creep between services
  • Consistent friction from the first lap to the wear limit, so the braking marker set on a cold V4 Superleggera still means the same thing when it is hot
  • Machined, not moulded: the B005 plate is cut to the Brembo outline rather than pressed to an approximate one
  • Runs cooler at the disc than a conventional sinter, because the ceramic film it forms carries part of the load on the V4 Superleggera
  • Heat spreads across the whole 102.2 by 42.0 mm face instead of concentrating at the leading edge

Construction and Material Quality

What sits behind the friction material on a B005 matters as much as the mixture itself. Because the B005 is sintered rather than resin-bonded, there is no binder to cook out at the top of the range. The effect is a B005 that presents the same geometry to the disc near the wear limit as it did new.

Performance and Feel

On a V4 Superleggera the second half of a session is where EX Race earns its price. The harder EXC Endurance mixture bit sooner and lasted longer, but asked considerably more of a V4 Superleggera disc than the B005 in EX Race does. A V4 Superleggera rider sets a braking marker once; the B005 is what lets them keep it.

Fitment and Compatibility

Fitment covers the Ducati V4 Superleggera from 2020 to 2024 with the Brembo caliper. The same B005 shape covers 117 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Nothing in the ZCOO range fits the rear axle of the V4 Superleggera. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 102.2 mm length and 42.0 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
