Every drop-in filter is sold with the words no remap required, and most people read them as convenience. Read them the other way round and they say something more useful: the change is small enough that the fuelling does not have to be told about it. On a Street Triple built between 2013 and 2016 that is precisely the size of change worth making. The Sprint Filter PM143S is a dry woven polyester element that goes into the standard airbox, keeps the standard cover and the standard duct, and leaves the map exactly as Triumph wrote it.
Key Features
- A calibrated aperture, woven from polyester threads of ø 22 microns
- Dry polyester that is never oiled, with no film to be drawn towards the sensor or the throttle bodies
- Filtration of 80 µm, flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec: the standard P08 medium for road and track
- The standard airbox gains roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- No modification to the airbox, no remap, no paperwork — a direct replacement and nothing else
- Washable and reusable; Sprint Filter design it to last the life of the motorcycle and warrant it two years from the date of purchase
Why the ECU is best left alone on a superseded model
The 675 Street Triple stopped being current in 2016, and the support around a superseded model thins out quietly rather than all at once: fewer dealers with the software still installed, fewer people who remember the quirks, longer waits when something has to be looked at. Every change that requires the fuelling to be adjusted adds one more thing to unpick later, and one more variable when a fault turns up that has nothing to do with it. An element that is a straight swap adds none. That is worth more on a bike of this age than any claim that would have needed a remap to stand up.
The honest limit of what a filter can do
A filter cannot give back anything except the restriction it causes itself. Peak power on a standard engine is decided by the camshafts, the exhaust and the map, and no element in a standard airbox is going to move it in a way you would feel through the throttle. What the P08 offers instead is a low starting restriction, roughly double the filtering surface in the same space, and the fact that the figure it starts at is the figure it is cleaned back to rather than one that drifts away from you between services.
Care and cleaning
Ten minutes with an air line puts the PM143S back where it started: compressed air on the clean side, worked outwards through the element. After a hard season it earns a wash instead — lukewarm water, a mild detergent, rinsing until the water runs clear. Open air does the drying, never heat and never a flame, and the element goes back dry with no oiling step. You will find the maintenance sheet in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Triumph Street Triple 675, 2013–2016. The same PM143S element covers four machines built around this airbox — the Street Triple 675 and the Street Triple 675 R, the Daytona 675 and the Daytona 675 R. The full list with model years is in the Fitment tab.
