DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered exclusively for the SP variant of the Honda CBR 1000 RR, the K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit brings race-derived suspension precision to a machine that was already built to a higher standard. The 25mm Independent Damping System — a hallmark of K-Tech's professional-grade fork cartridge range — is machined from aerospace-grade aluminium and finished with a hard-anodised super-finish surface treatment that is as visually distinctive as it is functionally superior. This is the cartridge system that separates a capable Fireblade from a truly dialled-in one.
Key Features
- 25mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) allows compression and rebound to be tuned completely independently for precise, repeatable handling adjustments
- 24 clicks of independent compression adjustment and 30 clicks of independent rebound adjustment deliver exceptional range and granularity of tuning
- Increased stroke compared to the original Honda cartridge — 125 mm — for improved suspension travel and compliance over varied surfaces
- Aerospace-grade aluminium construction with hard-anodised super-finished components ensures outstanding durability and corrosion resistance
- Wide range of compatible springs available separately (36-260 series), allowing full spring rate customisation to rider weight and riding style
- Designed exclusively for the SP variant of the CBR 1000 RR — not compatible with the standard non-SP model
Design, Finish and Heritage
K-Tech Suspension has built its reputation supplying damping components to WorldSBK, BSB and club-racing paddocks across Europe. The 25IDS cartridge reflects that heritage directly: every dimension is held to tight tolerances, the hard-anodised super-finish on sliding surfaces reduces friction and wear, and the clean, machined-aluminium aesthetic is unmistakably purposeful. Where factory suspension components are engineered to a price point, the 25IDS is engineered to a performance target.
The independent compression and rebound architecture is the defining design choice here. Adjusting one circuit has no influence on the other, which means a track-day rider can dial in the rebound for a smooth, fast chicane without upsetting the compression setting optimised for braking zones. That level of independence is rare outside dedicated race components.
Setup and Installation
K-Tech provides baseline click settings to get riders onto the bike quickly: 12 clicks compression, 18 clicks rebound, and 8 mm of preload as a starting point. From there, the 24-click compression range and 30-click rebound range give plenty of room to refine the setup across different tracks, tyres or riding conditions. Springs must be ordered separately from the 36-260 series — ensure the correct rate is selected for your all-up weight and intended use before installation.
Installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is recommended. Correct fitment and initial oil fill are critical to achieving the performance the system is designed to deliver.
Fitment and Compatibility
This cartridge kit is designed specifically for the Honda CBR 1000 RR SP from 2014 to 2019. It is not suitable for the standard (non-SP) CBR 1000 RR of the same period. Always confirm your exact variant before ordering.
