DescriptionThe whole story▼
Read the approval line before anything else: this silencer carries an EC type approval and no ECE certificate. Most parts in this catalogue have both. This one does not, and Akrapovic's own homologation entry confirms it — so the paperwork that comes in the box is the EC document alone.
Key Features
- 4.9 PS more at 9,700 rpm, with peak output rising from 84.9 to 89.7 PS
- 4.5 Nm more at 6,650 rpm — both figures unusually large for a slip-on
- 2.9 kg against the standard 3.8 kg: 0.9 kg and 23.7 per cent less
- Titanium muffler outer sleeve with a carbon fibre end cap
- Fits six variants of the Tiger 800: XC, XR, XCx, XRx, XCA and XRT
- Removable noise insert supplied
- EC type approval — no ECE
Nearly Five Horsepower
84.9 PS becoming 89.7 is a 5.7 per cent gain, which for a silencer swap is at the very top of what this catalogue contains. The torque figure is in the same class: 4.5 Nm at 6,650 rpm on a 799 cc triple that makes 70.6 standard.
The reason is the part it replaces. Triumph's original Tiger 800 silencer was built to 2011 noise limits with a restrictive internal path, and opening that up releases more than a modern, already-optimised standard system would.
What EC Without ECE Means
The EC type approval is the European Community document and it is what a German inspection asks for. The ECE certificate is the parallel United Nations approval, recognised more widely outside the EU.
For a bike registered and ridden in Germany or the EU the EC approval is the relevant one, and this silencer has it. If you ride the motorcycle in a country that specifically requires the ECE document, this part does not carry it — ask us before ordering rather than after.
Six Variants, One Part
Triumph split the Tiger 800 into a road-biased XR line and a spoked-wheel XC line, each with x and A or T upgrades adding electronics, heated equipment and suspension. Akrapovic measured this system across the family — XC, XR, XRx, XCx, XRT and XCA — and all six take the same silencer.
What Stays Standard
This is a slip-on, so the headers, the catalytic converter and the engine management are untouched. No remapping is needed despite the size of the gain, and the standard silencer bolts back on if the Tiger is sold in original condition.
The removable noise insert is supplied, so the sound can be kept close to standard for an inspection or opened up with a single bolt.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-T800SO1-HZAAT covers the Triumph Tiger 800 in those six variants from model year 2011 through 2016. The 2018 generation changed the exhaust and this part does not carry over.
Road Approval
EC type approval, with the certificate supplied and downloadable here. There is no ECE certificate for this part. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
