DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is not a weight part, and it would be dishonest to sell it as one. The saving is 0.2 kg — 4.3 per cent — because Ducati's standard system on the 698 Mono is already light. What this pair does is add 3.9 PS to a single-cylinder engine that makes 69.8, which is a 5.6 per cent gain on an engine that has nowhere obvious left to find any.
Key Features
- 3.9 PS (2.9 kW) more at 10,000 rpm, taking peak output from 69.8 to 72.4 PS
- 1.9 Nm more at 6,800 rpm, developed with throttle response as the stated priority
- Twin silencers, one exiting either side of the seat, in the Hypermotard's own layout
- Sandblasted high-grade titanium sleeves with stainless steel link pipes
- Carbon fibre end caps with imprints and honeycomb exhaust protection, as used on Akrapovic's Grand Prix machinery
- EC and ECE type approved and Euro 5+ compliant, plug-and-play
- Weight saving is small and stated as such: 0.2 kg
Power on a Single
The 698 Mono runs Ducati's Superquadro Mono, the largest single-cylinder engine the company has built for a road bike. Single-cylinder engines are hard to extract more from without losing tractability, and the development brief here was explicitly throttle response and rideability first, peak power second. The result is 3.9 PS at the top and a cleaner pick-up below it — not one bought with the other.
Honeycomb, and Why It Is There
The mesh inside the carbon end caps is the same exhaust protection Akrapovic fits to the Grand Prix bikes it supplies. On a supermoto with the outlets at seat height and a rider who moves around on the bike, it is a functional part as much as a visual signature.
One Incompatibility
This system does not fit in combination with Ducati's optional aluminium number plate holder, part number 97382111AA. If that accessory is on the bike, it has to come off. Nothing else on the motorcycle needs to change: the ECU is untouched, no remapping is required, and installation runs about 45 minutes.
Fitment and Compatibility

Road Approval
