DescriptionThe whole story▼
Enduro loops often link their technical sections with fast gravel forest tracks, and a big four-stroke covers them quickly. The KTM 450 EXC-F Six Days is at home there, but every fast stretch ends somewhere, often in a tight turn onto a narrow trail, and braking hard on loose gravel is one of the moments when a front wheel can slide away. The B8303 from Accossato fits the 450 EXC-F Six Days of 2014 to 2017: a short black or gold blade, machined from Ergal 7075, that can fold forward when the gravel wins.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the KTM 450 EXC-F Six Days, 2014 to 2017
- Replaces the original lever on the front brake master cylinder
- Joint lets the blade tip forward instead of breaking off
- Short blade for three fingers
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black or gold on a dark base
- Supplied as a single brake lever
- No German ABE documented; not approved for public roads
Construction and Material Quality
Gold or black: the blade is the part of the B8303 you see and choose, and behind it sits a dark base that stays on the master cylinder pivot. A joint connects the two and allows the blade to fold forward. Accossato cuts both from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy, using the high-strength aluminium alloy because its levers should be strong, light and reliable. The blade is short and shaped for three fingers, as on all of Accossato's off-road brake levers.
From Gravel Track to Hairpin
Loose gravel behaves like ball bearings under a braking tyre. The technique on a 450 EXC-F Six Days is to brake while the bike is still upright and straight, progressively on the front and firmly on the rear, and to finish slowing before turning in. A big four-stroke also offers plenty of engine braking, which helps as long as the rear wheel keeps turning. Braking hard with the bars turned is how the front washes out on gravel. Keep your weight back, stay standing until the speed is gone, and look through the turn to where the trail continues.
A washed-out front on gravel usually ends with the bike sliding on its side, and on the right the brake lever grinds along the stones or strikes the edge of the track. That is how many solid levers break or wear down to a stub. The B8303 has a joint that lets its blade give way forward at the first contact, so there is a chance it avoids the worst of the slide. It does not guarantee survival, but if it comes through, the KTM 450 EXC-F Six Days can carry on into the next section with a front brake that still works.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8303 for the KTM 450 EXC-F Six Days from 2014 to 2017, where it replaces the original lever at the front brake master cylinder. Up to and including the 2016 model year, KTM sold the bike as the 450 EXC Six Days; Accossato's list simply calls it EXC 450 Six-Days. The matching C7303 clutch lever covers the same years. Their colours differ: gold is offered only on this brake lever, orange only on the clutch lever, so black is the choice if both sides should match.
Road Approval
The 450 EXC-F Six Days can be registered for the road, but no German ABE is documented for the B8303. With this lever fitted, it is not approved for public roads; the lever is for off-road and competition use.
