DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every long tour on a Caponord 1200 begins with its least romantic part: getting out of town. With the cases packed and perhaps a passenger already on board, the first half hour is often spent crawling from one set of lights to the next, and the left hand works harder then than on any mountain road. The clutch of Aprilia's tourer is operated hydraulically, with a small reservoir on the master cylinder at the left end of the handlebar. Accossato's FP007 is an aluminium cover for that reservoir, listed for the Caponord 1200 of 2013 to 2016.
Key Features
- Cover for the clutch master cylinder reservoir of the Aprilia Caponord 1200
- Listed for the ETV 1200 Caponord, 2013 to 2016
- Made of aluminium on CNC machines, then anodised
- Six colours: blue, black, orange, red, silver or gold
- Designed for the original clutch master cylinder
- Accossato oil filler cap and front reservoir cap listed for the same bike
- No German ABE documented; intended for the track
Construction and Material Quality
The FP007 begins as aluminium and is cut to shape on CNC machines before anodising gives it its colour. For this cover there are six finishes: blue, black, orange, red, silver and gold. Its task is simple, closing the reservoir neatly on top of the original master cylinder, and Accossato designs it around the reservoirs of the bikes on its list. When you change covers, take a moment over what lies underneath. Check the original seal or diaphragm for cracks or stiffness before it goes back in, since a new cover cannot make up for a tired one.
Rush Hour Before the Holiday
Stop-and-go traffic is where a clutch shows its character. Each red light means pulling the lever in, holding it and letting it out slowly, and on a loaded Caponord 1200 the take-up has to be gentle or the whole bike lurches forward. A hydraulic system keeps the lever feel consistent, yet the fluid in it ages and gradually draws in humidity, which is why the reservoir should never stand open longer than the job requires. If the FP007 goes on the evening before a trip, turn the handlebar until the reservoir sits level and lay an old towel over the tank and fairing, because the fluid attacks paint; rinse off any drop with water immediately. Make sure the level lies between the marks, do the fixings up gently rather than hard, then pull the lever several times with the engine off. It should feel exactly as it did before. If the take-up point has wandered or the lever feels soft, have it seen to before departure rather than discovering it in the first queue of the holiday.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the FP007 is given for the ETV 1200 Caponord of 2013 to 2016, where it fits the original clutch master cylinder. Inter-Pace also lists the same cover for the Dorsoduro 1200 and for Ducati's Monster 1200 and Multistrada 1200. If the master cylinder on your Caponord 1200 has ever been replaced, compare it with the application list before ordering. Accossato adds two more caps for this tourer, the FP001 oil filler cap and the TS003 front brake fluid reservoir cap. Silver, gold, black, red, orange and blue are offered for every one of them, so the whole set can share a colour.
Road Approval
There is no ABE or other test document for the FP007 in our records. We therefore offer it for racing and competition purposes.
