DescriptionThe whole story

Height and mass are what make an adventure bike like the KTM 890 SMT demanding under braking. For the KTM 890 SMT of 2024 that shape is the B002, a 75.5 by 55.0 mm face on a laser-cut backing plate. In EXR form the B002 carries ZCOO's 2026 compound, the mixture that replaces EXC Endurance.

Key Features

  • Suits the 890 SMT on the road as readily as on a circuit, which is what separates the ceramic platform from a pure race sinter
  • Runs cooler at the disc than a conventional sinter, because the ceramic film it forms carries part of the load on the 890 SMT
  • Laser-cut backing plate holds the friction face flat when the Brembo caliper spreads under peak line pressure
  • Ceramic sintering keeps the coefficient of friction stable across the temperature swing a 890 SMT sees in a single descent
  • Holds its friction level through the heat cycles an 890 SMT front end goes through in a single hard ride
  • Machined, not moulded: the B002 plate is cut to the Brembo outline rather than pressed to an approximate one

Construction and Material Quality

ZCOO builds the B002 the same way whether it ends up on an 890 SMT or on a race bike. The Brembo fitment sets the outline; everything behind the friction face of the B002 is ZCOO's own. Together they remove the two things that normally end a sintered pad, and the B002 is built against both: fade at the top of the range, and the friction layer lifting away.

Performance and Feel

The mixture in the B002 changed in 2026, and so did the plate behind it. The reworked progression is what keeps the additional force usable at full lean. The KTM 890 SMT rarely brakes on a warm disc, and the B002 does not ask it to.

Fitment and Compatibility

The B002 is ZCOO's listed reference for the KTM 890 SMT between 2024 and 2024. The same B002 shape covers 75 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 75.5 mm length and 55.0 mm height. Front axle exclusively - there is no rear B002.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
