Four Ducatis take this element and above the crankcases they have almost nothing in common: a supermoto, a roadster, a faired superbike and a naked sports bike. What they share is the 890 V2 engine and the box it breathes through, and a filter is specified for the box. So the medium cannot be chosen from the character of the motorcycle — the coverage list has settled that character is beside the point. It has to be chosen from where the machine is ridden, which is the one thing a part number cannot know.
Key Features
- Special dry nonwoven with 14-micron filtration, catalogued for the 890 V2 airbox
- Rated flow of 1,800 litres per square metre per second; the woven standard, 5,050
- About twice the filtering surface of a normal performance filter
- One element per machine, dropped into the untouched factory airbox, with no remap
- Dry from first fitting to last: no oil to apply, none to migrate downstream
- Serviced instead of scrapped, drawn for the motorcycle's life, two-year warranty
The specification describes air, not attitude
Dusty conditions is the name of a medium, not an assessment of a Monster. It comes off the data sheet: 14 microns of retention, 1,800 litres per square metre per second of flow, a dry nonwoven mat. Read that way the choice becomes answerable. A Monster V2 commuting through a city in winter, or spending August on dry unswept lanes, meets a fine suspended load an 80-micron weave was not drawn to stop. One living on clean fast roads meets little of it and would rather keep the 5,050.
Paid now, returned much later
The two halves of this trade arrive at different times. Flow is surrendered on the day of fitting and every day after. What retention buys is engine wear that does not happen, and that account settles years out, in a way no owner can point at. Be honest about the shape of it: this element will not make a standard Monster V2 feel stronger, and anyone buying it for throttle response is buying the wrong thing. Bought for a restriction that holds steadier between services, and for a panel that is cleaned rather than repurchased, it is what it says.
Care and cleaning
Cleaning is deliberately unremarkable: compressed air on the clean side, worked outward until the medium gives up what it collected. Oily dirt releases in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a thorough rinse. Everything dries in moving air at room temperature, because heat — a gun, an oven, an open flame — is what actually finishes a Sprint Filter off. The PM279P14 returns to the airbox dry and untreated, with no oiling step to forget. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Catalogued for the Ducati Monster V2 of 2026, the 890 cc model. Earlier Monsters are not on this list: the 797, 821 and 1200 sit in a different housing, and the 2019 Monster 1200 25° Anniversario has its own fine element under CM61P14. This code covers four machines in all — the Hypermotard V2 and Monster V2 of 2026 and the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 of 2025–2026. Confirm the year and the engine before ordering.
