DescriptionThe whole story▼

A front brake that has lost its bite is often blamed on the pads alone. On the Honda CRF250RX, a bike made for long off-road races, the disc wears along with them, and new pads on a worn disc rarely bring back the original feel. Accossato's DK107 is a fixed, one-piece front disc listed for the CRF250RX from 2019 to 2024. The supplier describes it as steel-made; it is 260 mm across and 3 mm thick, uses six 6.5 mm holes spaced on a 117 mm circle and replaces the original directly.

Key Features

  • One-piece front brake disc for the Honda CRF250RX, listed for 2019 to 2024
  • Steel, fixed design for off-road use
  • 260 mm outer diameter, 101 mm bore
  • 3 mm thick
  • Mounting: six holes of 6.5 mm on a 117 mm circle
  • Replaces the original disc directly
  • Minimum thickness printed on the disc
  • No German ABE on record; for competition

Construction and Material Quality

The DK107 has no separate carrier. Friction surface and mounting flange are one piece of steel, 3 mm thick, with a 101 mm centre bore and six 6.5 mm holes that meet the original bolt pattern on a 117 mm circle. Accossato attributes its understanding of discs to racing, citing Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and says the selection of raw materials is part of what makes its discs work. The minimum working thickness is printed on the disc.

New Pads, New Disc

Pads and disc wear into each other. After a season, the disc surface carries fine grooves and the pads have taken on the same pattern, which is why a worn pad and a worn disc still stop reasonably well together. Put fresh, flat pads against that grooved surface and they touch only the high points: the lever feels vague, the pads wear quickly and the brake takes a long time to come back. The reverse is also true, since old pads on a new disc transfer their uneven profile to it. The clean solution is to change both at once. Before fitting the new disc, clean the hub face so the disc sits flat, follow the fixing method in Honda's manual and tighten the bolts evenly in a cross pattern. Wipe the disc with brake cleaner to remove any film from storage or handling, then bed in the pads with a series of progressively firmer stops. On the CRF250RX, a few laps of a practice loop do the job.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the CRF250RX, Accossato gives the model years 2019 to 2024 for the DK107. A second front disc with a larger diameter, the DK263, appears for the same bike, while the DK012 looks after the rear wheel from 2019 to 2023. With only one disc at the front of the CRF250RX, a single DK107 is enough.

Road Approval

The DK107 has no German ABE and no documented type approval. Its place is in competition on closed ground.
