DescriptionThe whole story▼
A practice day at the motocross track is mostly repetition: lap after lap on a Honda CRF250R, trying a different line into the same corner and braking a little later each time until something goes wrong. Most of those somethings are small, and many end with the bike on its side. Accossato's B8207 is a folding front brake lever for the CRF250R from 2007 to 2022, milled from Ergal 7075 in Italy. When the bike goes down, its joint can let the blade fold forward instead of taking the knock at its tip.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Honda CRF250R, 2007 to 2022
- Fits the original master cylinder in place of the stock lever
- Anti-break joint between the dark base and the coloured blade
- Short, three-finger blade
- CNC-machined from a solid block of Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Available with a black or red blade
- No German ABE documented; for motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
A brake lever is a small part that handles large forces. Every squeeze of the fingers is multiplied by the lever before it reaches the master cylinder piston, and every crash loads the blade from an unexpected direction. That is why Accossato mills the B8207 from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, on CNC machines in Italy, aiming for a lever that is strong, light and reliable. It is built in two parts, a dark base on the master cylinder pivot and a black or red blade joined to it by the folding joint. It is the shorter of Accossato's off-road levers, made for three fingers.
A Practice Day of Small Mistakes
Practice is where riders find their limits, and finding a limit means occasionally stepping over it. On a practice day a CRF250R rider might try to carry more speed into a rutted turn, brake later for a tight left or hold a tighter line round a berm. When the front washes out or a boot catches a rut, the bike slides to a halt on its side. Nobody is hurt, the engine is restarted and the lap continues. By the end of the day, a lever may have hit the ground several times.
A conventional lever tends to bend a little further each time or snap outright, and a bent brake lever changes the feel of the brake, which is the last thing you want while learning to brake later. The B8207's joint can let the blade fold forward on impact, after which it is swung back into place by hand, so the lever you finish the session with has a fair chance of being the one you started with. It will not survive every hit. It can reduce how many levers a season of learning costs, and for a young rider or a club racer on a tight budget, that counts.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8207 for the Honda CRF250R from 2007 to 2022 and fits it to the original front brake master cylinder. For the clutch side there is the C7210, listed for the CRF250R from 2004 to 2022 and also offered in black or red. Owners of a 2004 to 2006 CRF250R will find only the clutch lever for their bike in this range.
Road Approval
The B8207 has no documented German ABE. Like the CRF250R itself, it belongs on motocross tracks and closed off-road ground.
