DescriptionThe whole story▼

A cruiser spends part of its life being pushed: out of the garage, backwards out of a parking space, down a sloping drive. The VT750 Shadow is no lightweight, and experienced owners use a simple trick to keep it under control with the engine off: leave it in gear and let the clutch lever act as a brake. Accossato's ESH626 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the Shadow of 2010 to 2019, with an adjustable reach that makes this, and every other clutch job, easier on the hand.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the Honda VT750C Shadow ABS, 2010 to 2019
  • Listed for the Shadow and Phantom versions
  • Fits the original clutch mounting
  • Reach adjustable to the grip
  • Standard blade approximately 138 mm; long in blue, gold, green and orange
  • Anodised aluminium, CNC-machined
  • Black hub, fixed blade
  • No German ABE documented, sold for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the ESH626 from solid aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises it afterwards. The result is a two-tone lever: a black hub with the pivot and the reach adjuster, and a blade in the colour of your choice. The blade is rigid, made in one piece without a hinge. Its colour is part of the aluminium surface, so it does not flake off when the bike is covered, uncovered and wheeled around the garage day after day.

Pushing With the Engine Off

With the engine off and first gear engaged, the rear wheel is connected to the engine through the gearbox. Pull the clutch in and the bike rolls freely; let it out and the bike stops, held by the engine's compression. When you walk beside a Shadow with the left hand on the left grip and the right hand on the seat, the front brake is out of reach, and the clutch becomes the brake. It is especially useful when rolling the bike backwards down a slope or into a garage, where it could otherwise gather speed. The technique needs a lever you can pull in comfortably while standing beside the bike with the arm at an unusual angle. Set the ESH626 close enough to the grip that the fingers can control it from that position, and practise on level ground first, releasing the lever slowly so the bike does not stop with a jerk. The long blade is the easiest to hold in this situation.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the ESH626 for the VT750 Shadow from 2010 to 2019, naming the Shadow and Phantom versions. For 2020 and 2021 bikes, the listed clutch lever is the ESH250 instead. On the brake side, the EDF018 is listed for the Shadow from 2010 to 2019, with the same hub and colours.

Road Approval

Without a documented German ABE, the ESH626 is sold for circuit use.
