DescriptionThe whole story

Adventure riding punishes a pad with heat cycles rather than peak temperature. The N007 is one of the few ZCOO references whose two pads differ: ZRM-N007ZM_A + ZRM-N007ZM_B at 101.5 by 39.0 mm beside ZRM-N007ZM_B at 101.5 by 39.0 mm. On the DSX 650 that shape comes in EX Race, the mixture ZCOO sells for road, trackday and club racing rather than for sprint distance alone.

Key Features

  • Supplied as a pack of two - the exact set the Nissin caliper of the DSX 650 takes
  • The N007 is one of 16 shapes ZCOO builds; this is the one your Nissin caliper takes
  • Compatible with the standard Nissin retaining pin and spring of the DSX 650 - nothing else to buy
  • EX Race is the softer of ZCOO's two ceramic mixtures, chosen for feel on a machine like the DSX 650 rather than outright initial aggression
  • No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this compound - treat the N007 as a track and competition part
  • Consistent friction from the first lap to the wear limit, so the braking marker set on a cold DSX 650 still means the same thing when it is hot

Construction and Material Quality

The N007 is a racing part in the way it is made, not only in the way it is sold. Nothing about the N007 is stamped: the plate is cut, the ceramic is sintered on, and the bond is made under pressure. None of it is visible once the N007 is in the Nissin caliper, which is precisely the point.

Performance and Feel

Riders moving to EX Race from an OEM organic pad usually describe the DSX 650's brake as becoming quieter rather than stronger. Across 1 model year of the DSX 650 the behaviour is the same, because the compound is. Which is exactly what an adventure bike like the DSX 650 asks of a front pad.

Fitment and Compatibility

ZCOO catalogues the N007 for the DSX 650 of 2023. ZCOO lists no rear pad for the DSX 650. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 101.5 mm length and 39.0 mm height. The same N007 shape covers 70 further machines in the 2026 catalogue.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
