The PM164P14 catches by weave alone. There is nothing to migrate, nothing to reapply after a wash, and nothing to get wrong at reassembly — it goes back in dry, the way it came out. What the finer weave buys in exchange for its lower flow is the size range that actually matters: coarse grit is stopped by any element in reasonable condition, while the fine mineral fraction is the part that reaches the bore.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eCare and cleaning\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn an unfaired bike the element sees weather as well as dust, so the wash gets more use than elsewhere: lukewarm water, a mild detergent, a rinse until the water runs clear. Compressed air from the clean side, outwards, does the work between times, and a dusty spell is reason to repeat it.
