The same kit as GDU1804TOM with a carbon-cased silencer at the end of it. A hundred and seven euro more, and the only thing that changes is what you see.
Key Features
- Approved 3/4 kit for the Ducati Hypermotard 821 and Hyperstrada, 2013 to 2015.
- Force silencer, carbon fibre case.
- Two-into-one pipe in stainless steel, low mounting.
- Catalysts fitted in the Y pipe on the homologated version.
- Complies with emissions regulations as supplied.
- 1.130 euro; the titanium version is GDU1804TOM at 1.023.
An Approved Exhaust That Replaces the Catalyst
Most approved aftermarket exhausts keep the motorcycle's own catalytic converter and change only what comes after it. Spark took the other route here and built catalysts into the Y pipe of its own kit.
That is more expensive to engineer and it is why an article that replaces most of the exhaust can still be sold road legal. The paperwork is not a loophole — Spark states that the homologated version complies with the emissions regulations.
Carbon on a 2013 Hypermotard
The 821 is a motorcycle with a lot of black plastic and a red trellis frame, and a carbon silencer sits in that palette without arguing with it. The titanium version is the brighter of the two, and it will go bronze at the outlet.
Neither is lighter in any way Spark publishes for this kit; there are no weight figures on the article page. What is documented is the construction, the mounting and the approval.
Two Bikes, One Kit
Spark lists this article for the Hypermotard 821 and for the Hyperstrada, which share the engine, the frame and the low-mount exhaust routing. One kit covers both.
What it does not cover is the high-passage version of the 821. That layout runs the silencer under the tail and needs different parts throughout — including the number plate holder, because the exhaust takes the space the standard one uses.
Ten Years of Standing Still
An exhaust on a 2013 motorcycle has been through a decade of heat cycles and road salt. Replacing the section behind the header is often less about sound than about a rusted-through mid-pipe, and a kit that arrives with its own catalysts and mounting is the tidy way out of that.
Where the Pipe Goes
Low mounting: the two-into-one stainless pipe carries the gas along the flank to a silencer beside the rear wheel, in the position the standard low-mount exhaust used.
The 821 also existed with a high-passage exhaust. That configuration takes a different Spark article, and its own plate holder, GDUPT12I.
Buying the Silencer Separately
If a Spark pipe is already fitted, the carbon silencer on its own is GDU1804SCOM at 697 euro — a spare part that mounts to the GDU1804R or GDU1807R pipes, with holders and small parts included.
For a standard motorcycle that is not the article to order. The kit brings the pipe, the catalysts and the mounting with it.
Fitment & Compatibility
