DescriptionThe whole story▼
The K-Tech TRDS-R delivers a level of all-day comfort and confidence on track that truly separates it from conventional suspension. Designed for the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 across the 2013 to 2026 model range, this shock absorber draws on K-Tech's Through-Rod Damping System technology to give riders and technicians a precise, repeatable platform for dialling in the perfect setup — whether you're contesting a full championship season or chasing a personal best at a club event.
Key Features
- Through-Rod Damping System (TRDS) technology enables highly accurate, individually tailored suspension tuning for improved lap times and sustained rider comfort.
- The 'R' designation stands for Regulation — purpose-built to comply with current championship cost restrictions while still delivering top-level performance for teams working with limited sponsorship budgets.
- Compact, reservoir-free design enhances heat dissipation, ensuring consistent damping performance over extended race distances without fade.
- 18-click compression and 18-click rebound adjustability (recommended starting points) allow fine-grained setup changes between sessions without specialist tooling.
- Proven at the highest levels of motorsport, including British Superbike and the Isle of Man TT.
- Supplied with the 59-150 spring series, matched to the ZX-6R 636's geometry and weight distribution.
Performance on Road and Track
Where many budget-conscious race units force a compromise between compliance and control, the TRDS-R refuses to choose. The through-rod architecture keeps the damping circuit exceptionally responsive across the full range of suspension travel, so the shock remains composed both in high-speed compressions and through slow, technical chicanes. Improved thermal management — a direct benefit of eliminating the external reservoir — means the damping character you set on the warmup lap is the same character the shock delivers on the final lap of a long race.
For riders stepping up from a stock unit, the difference is most apparent in how the rear of the bike behaves under hard braking and on the exit of tight corners. The ZX-6R's chassis can finally be worked rather than managed, freeing the rider to focus on line and throttle timing rather than fighting instability.
Fitment & Compatibility
This shock absorber is engineered specifically for the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 covering model years 2013 through 2026. Installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is recommended to ensure correct setup and to preserve warranty validity.
