DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every job on a brake system starts with the same unglamorous step: getting the machine level. On a Panigale V4 S the rear reservoir sits low and out of the line of sight, and a bike resting on its side stand puts it at an angle that guarantees trouble the moment a cap comes off. Ten seconds with a paddock stand solves it. Accossato's TS012 is the cap that goes on once the bike is standing properly, machined from aluminium and anodised in seven colours.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Panigale V4 S
- Listed by Accossato for 2018 and 2019
- Sits on the standard rear reservoir in place of the original
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, anodised for colour
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- FP004, FP007 and TS003 available for the same bike
- No German ABE documented; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The TS012 is machined from aluminium and then anodised, which is how it gets its blue, green, black, orange, red, silver or gold. A colour worked into the metal is a sensible choice this low on a motorcycle, where spray, cleaning products and the occasional boot make short work of a coating. Accossato produces the cap for the rear reservoir Ducati fits to the machines on its application list, so the rear brake of a Panigale V4 S is otherwise left exactly as it was. While the original cap is off, check the diaphragm underneath and replace it if it has gone hard or split.
Standing the Bike Level Before You Start
Once the machine is upright and steady, the rest follows in order. Clean the top of the reservoir and everything immediately around it, because that surface sits directly above an opening into the brake circuit and gravity is not on your side. Put a cloth over any paintwork within reach and keep water to hand; brake fluid marks lacquer and only an immediate rinse prevents it. Take the cap off and look at the level, which belongs between the marks, and at the colour of the fluid. A rear circuit that is used gently still ages, since the fluid draws moisture from the air over months and years, so check the owner's manual for when it was last due and treat that as a separate job from this one. Do not leave the reservoir open longer than you must. Fit the TS012, tighten it gently rather than firmly, and press the pedal several times while the Panigale V4 S is still on the stand. Only then is it worth rolling the bike back onto its wheels.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list covers the rear reservoir of the Panigale V4 S in 2018 and 2019, the TS012 replacing the original cap. If the rear master cylinder or reservoir has been changed, that list is where to check before ordering. We also catalogue the same cap for the DesertX, the Hyperstrada 821 and Benelli's Leoncino 500. For this machine Accossato adds the FP004 oil filler cap, the FP007 clutch cover and the TS003 front reservoir cap, so a single colour can run through the whole bike.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test document for the TS012 have been made available to us; the cap is therefore listed for racing and competition.
