DescriptionThe whole story▼

Between 2006 and 2015 the Kawasaki ZX-10R went through three generations, and the last of them carried two riders to the World Superbike title: Tom Sykes in 2013 and Jonathan Rea in 2015. Today these bikes fill club grids and track-day paddocks, bought second-hand by riders who want a proper superbike without paying for a new one. On such a budget every purchase is weighed against the next set of tyres. For the ZX-10R across all of these years, Accossato lists its FC143, a quick-release fuel tank cap in CNC-machined aluminium, with the pin on its pawl in six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki ZX-10R, 2006 to 2015
  • One Accossato entry spanning three generations of the bike
  • Aluminium body, CNC-machined
  • Quick-closing pawl
  • Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Pawl sold separately as a spare
  • No German ABE documented; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes the FC143 from aluminium alone, shaped on CNC machinery, and describes it as sturdy and long-lived, with a design that is new. A quick-closing pawl holds the cap shut, so filling the ZX-10R becomes a matter of flicking it open, pouring and flicking it closed. The colour you choose applies to the pin on that pawl. Should the pawl take a knock that it does not survive, Accossato sells it separately.

Where the Money Goes on an Older Superbike

Anyone who runs a ZX-10R from this era on a club budget soon learns to sort spending into three piles. The first is safety and grip: tyres, brake pads, fresh brake fluid, a suspension service and sound crash protection. Nothing else matters until these are right. The second is reliability, because a bike that has done many seasons, and perhaps passed through several owners, will find weak points of its own: chain and sprockets, radiator hoses, battery, the wiring behind the lights that have been removed. Only then comes the third pile, the small parts that make life at the circuit easier. A quick-release cap belongs there. It saves a little time and fiddling at every refuel, and on an older bike whose original cap has seen years of use, that adds up across a long season. Keep such purchases modest, fit the cap carefully with a cold engine, check for leaks after the first fill, and put whatever you save back into the first pile.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives one entry for this bike, the ZX-10R 1000 of 2006 to 2015, which takes in the models introduced for 2006, 2008 and 2011. From 2016 the ZX-10R is listed with the FC113 and from 2021 with the FC126. We also list the FC143 for the Z1000 and the GTR 1400. Check your bike's model year before ordering.

Road Approval

The FC143 comes without a German ABE or a documented parts certificate, so we offer it for the circuit. If your ZX-10R is still registered, keep its factory cap for the road; it is normally opened with the ignition key.
