A rider manoeuvring a Diavel around a pump, with the bars at full lock and one foot searching for grip, can lose the bike in a second, and two-up with luggage it is even harder to hold. Approach the pump in a straight line where possible, look out for dark, shiny patches and avoid putting a foot down on them. Put the bike on its side stand before getting off, and have the passenger dismount before you refuel. Should the Diavel go down on the forecourt, the pads are there to meet the concrete before costlier parts do, which can limit the bill.
