Grow that layer electrochemically and it starts producing interference colours — the same physics that makes titanium turn blue under heat, controlled deliberately rather than left to the exhaust gas.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe result is a colour that is part of the surface rather than a film sitting on it. There is nothing to chip, lift or blister, and no clear coat to go milky.
