DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Öhlins FGR 300 is a purpose-built racing fork engineered without compromise for track use. Born from years of competition development, it combines a redesigned outer tube architecture with a lighter inner tube assembly and a refined damping tune — delivering levels of stiffness, control and feel that simply cannot be extracted from a standard road fork.
Key Features
- Redesigned outer tubes provide greater lateral torsional rigidity without sacrificing longitudinal compliance compared to the FGR 200 — a measurable step forward in chassis precision.
- Lighter inner tubes reduce unsprung and reciprocating mass, sharpening steering response and overall ride dynamics.
- X-ring replaces the conventional O-ring to guide the top-out spring, reducing wear and eliminating noise for consistently quiet, predictable rebound behaviour.
- Stiffer top-out spring improves rear-wheel traction under hard acceleration and maintains stability through high-speed corners.
- New check-valve springs deliver enhanced feedback and improved small-bump compliance on abrasive or uneven circuit surfaces.
- Revised internal damping tune remains reliable and progressive even under the sustained thermal and mechanical loads of competitive riding.
- FGR sticker on the remote reservoirs for the unmistakeable Öhlins race aesthetic.
Construction and Materials
The FGR 300 is built to the exacting standards Öhlins applies to its factory World Superbike and MotoGP programmes. The outer tubes are manufactured from high-grade aluminium alloy, processed and finished to tight tolerances that eliminate flex-induced imprecision at the steering head. Inner tubes are precision-ground and hard-anodised to resist scoring across the full 130 mm travel range. Every internal component — from the check-valve assemblies to the top-out spring — is selected and tuned as a system, not in isolation, which is why the FGR 300 responds as a single coherent unit rather than a collection of parts.
Performance on Track
The combination of increased lateral stiffness, reduced weight and a more sensitive damping calibration translates directly into lap time. Under braking the fork resists dive and twist, keeping the front contact patch square to the track. Mid-corner, the revised check-valve tune allows the fork to follow surface irregularities without upsetting chassis attitude. On exit, the stiffer top-out spring keeps the front wheel loaded longer, supporting traction and preventing the instability that can accompany aggressive drive. The FGR 300 is rated for race use only — it is not intended for road registration or road riding.
