The Anniversario
Ducati built a 1299 Anniversario for its ninetieth year with the R's engine internals and a titanium exhaust. It is among the most collectable twins the company has made.
Two Hundred and Five Horsepower
From 1285 cc, which remains an extraordinary specific output for a two-cylinder engine. Ducati found it by lengthening the stroke rather than chasing revs any further.
Universal Mounting
The clamp slots take the original master cylinder and the radial replacements. It is one part number covering a bike before and after its first brake upgrade.
Three Anodised Options
Black, red and titanium, each converted into the top layer of the aluminium. Against the 1299's paint, red is a continuation rather than an addition.
Cut From One Block
Ergal 7075 with the switch elements sealed inside. No two-part shell means no seam, and no seam means no route for the water that eventually ends moulded switchgear.
Feel Under a Glove
Machined edges and consistent travel tell a rider that an input registered. It is the reason people replace blocks that still technically work.
A Pit Limiter as Standard
Ducati built proper pit-lane speed control into a road motorcycle and put it on the bar. Nobody asked for it and it says everything about who the 1299 was for.
Nothing Spliced
Pre-wired to Ducati's own connector. The exchange is mechanical, it takes about fifteen minutes and it reverses in the same time.
Eighty-Seven More Cubic Centimetres
Ducati stretched the Superquadro's stroke rather than widening a bore that had already reached 112 millimetres. There was simply nowhere else to go, and the resulting engine filled in exactly the midrange the 1199 had been criticised for lacking.
