Two Fins, Two Mountings — Check Yours
Fullsix catalogues two shark fins for this bike at almost the same price and with the same model list. They are not interchangeable: this one carries a metal bush in an eye at the leading edge and bolts through it, while MD-9912-C17F has a folded bracket at the rear with the hole in the flange.
The manufacturer does not say which swingarm takes which. The reliable way to choose is to look at your own mounting point before ordering: a single boss at the front of the fin position means this part.
What the Fin Actually Prevents
It is the piece that stops something entering the space between the top of the sprocket and the chain as the wheel turns. At road speeds that is a trouser leg or a boot after a foot slips. On track it is the reason paddock scrutineers look at this area at all.
