DescriptionThe whole story▼
Tuono is Italian for thunder, and Aprilia gave the name to the naked version of its RSV4 superbike, V4 engine included. The Tuono V4 1100 Factory was the higher-specified of the two versions, and many of them spend their weekends at a circuit rather than on the road. There, among rows of fully faired sports bikes, a naked machine shows everything, right down to the small parts on its engine. For the Tuono V4 1100 Factory of 2015 to 2017, Accossato lists the FP009, an oil filler cap with an M25x1.5 thread, CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory, 2015 to 2017
- Thread size M25x1.5 according to Accossato
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment and anodised
- Eight colours: titanium, black, silver, red, orange, gold, blue, green
- Can be used on other motorcycles with the same cap size, after checking
- Same cap listed for the RSV4 Factory and the Tuono V4 1100 RR
- No German ABE documented; intended for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato shapes the FP009 from aluminium on CNC machines and then anodises it. Anodising turns the outer layer of the metal into the coloured finish instead of covering it with paint, and eight colours are offered for this cap. Titanium, black and silver keep the Tuono V4 1100 Factory looking close to standard; red, orange and gold add warmth, while blue and green stand out clearly. The one dimension Accossato gives is the thread, M25x1.5, and it is what defines the cap: besides the applications on Accossato's list, it can be used on other motorcycles with a cap of that size.
A Naked Bike in a Paddock Full of Fairings
Walk through the paddock at a track day and the Tuono V4 1100 Factory is easy to pick out. Among the faired superbikes, it is one of the few machines whose engine can be seen at a glance, and riders strolling past between sessions tend to look closely. What they notice first is the state of the bike: clean or grimy, dry or weeping oil. The organisers look for the same things at the technical check before the first session, and a leak is one of the reasons a bike can be sent back to its van. So the oil level belongs to the evening before, in your own garage: read it exactly as the owner's manual describes and top up in small steps if the reading asks for it. At the circuit, the filler stays closed while the engine is hot. Between sessions, a look at the cap and the crankcase around it is enough. If something looks damp, let the V4 cool completely and find the cause before the next outing. And when the FP009 does have to come out, clean around it first, lay it on a fresh rag and later turn it in by hand until it seats, without leverage.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the FP009 for the Tuono 1100 V4 Factory from 2015 to 2017. The cap is defined by its M25x1.5 thread, and Accossato states that it can also be adapted to other motorcycles with a cap of the same size. In the Inter-Pace catalogue the same part appears under the RSV4 Factory, the Tuono V4 1100 RR and MV Agusta's Brutale 1090. For a Tuono V4 1100 Factory whose engine has been rebuilt, or whose original cap has gone missing, compare the thread before ordering, or send us your question.
Road Approval
No German ABE or other test document is available to us for the FP009, which is why it appears in our shop as a part for racing and competition.
