DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Bandit 650 is, for many riders, the step from a first small bike to a proper four-cylinder, and some habits come along from the learner days. One of the most common is pulling the clutch in a bend that suddenly feels too fast and letting the bike coast. The inline-four of the GSF650 Bandit is smooth and willing, and it works better for you when it stays connected to the rear wheel. Accossato's ESS014 is a clutch lever for the Bandit 650, listed for 2005 to 2012 and for 2015, machined from aluminium and adjustable in reach.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Suzuki GSF650 Bandit, 2005 to 2012 and 2015
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable
- Blades short, standard (about 138 mm) and long, depending on colour
- Anodised aluminium, CNC-machined
- Black hub, coloured blade
- Fixed, one-piece blade
- Road approval: none documented, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The ESS014 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, then anodised in two tones: black for the hub, the colour you choose for the blade. The hub holds the pivot and, right beside it, the reach adjuster. Because the anodised layer grows out of the metal itself, it does not flake the way paint can after years of gloves brushing past it, which counts on a bike that many owners keep for a long time. The lever is a single rigid piece with no folding joint, so the clutch always meets your fingers at the same point.
Keep It Connected Through the Bend
A motorcycle is at its most settled in a bend when the engine is gently driving the rear wheel. Pull the clutch mid-corner and that drive disappears: the weight tips forward, the line becomes harder to hold, and when the lever comes back out, the sudden return of drive can unsettle the bike again. Instructors see this habit often in riders moving up to bigger machines, and the cure is to do the work before the bend. Brake and change down on the straight, let the clutch out fully, then roll through the corner on a steady, slightly opening throttle. Some nervous riders keep two fingers resting on the clutch lever all the time, and in a tense moment those fingers squeeze. Keep them on the grip in bends instead; with the reach set so the blade is easy to catch when a gear change is due, there is no reason to leave them hovering. With its broad spread of pulling power, a Bandit 650 can often take a whole series of bends in one gear.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list, the ESS014 appears for the GSF 650 Bandit in four periods, 2005 to 2007, 2008 to 2010, 2011 to 2012 and 2015, and the lever fits the original clutch mounting throughout. Taken together, that makes 2005 to 2012 plus the 2015 model year. The EDF014 brake lever covers the Bandit 650 over the same years, so the pair can be ordered in one colour. Silver comes in standard and short, black and red only in standard.
Road Approval
No German ABE is recorded for the ESS014. It is supplied for track use.
