More open means more air and less of the fine fraction held back — a trade, not a rank. It is not a power part either. Washing is for what air leaves behind: lukewarm water, a mild washing-up detergent, rinsed until clear. Then the element dries in open moving air until it is dry right through — no radiator, no hot air gun, no flame, since heat is what ends the life of polyester — and goes back untreated.
