mt-helmets-braker-sv-blackboard-b0-gloss-white-helmet
MT-Helmets Braker SV Blackboard B0 Full-Face Helmet – Gloss White

Blackboard B0 is a helmet covered in drawings. A white shell carries a dense black-and-white collage — engine parts, sprockets, hand-lettered type, scribbled panels — with thin red lines cutting diagonally across it. Read it from a metre away and it is a pattern; read it from twenty centimetres and it is a page from someone's sketchbook.

About the Blackboard B0 graphic

The base is gloss white. Over it runs a line-art collage in solid black: mechanical fragments, a crown, blocks of comic hatching, and BRAKER SV BLACKBOARD set along the lower rear in a small drawn banner. Two red strokes run diagonally across the flank, the only colour on the helmet.

A near-monochrome graphic ages better than a coloured one, and not by taste. Black on white is the most UV-stable combination a paint shop has — there is no pigment to shift. A helmet like this looks the same in its fifth summer as its first.

The other thing worth noticing is the density. Most graphic helmets place one large motif on the flank and leave the rest of the shell plain, because a big shape is cheap to print and forgiving to register. Blackboard does the opposite: the collage runs continuously over the crown, the chin bar and the tail, so there is no dead panel anywhere on the helmet. That is why it reads differently from every angle — and why it does not go stale the way a single motif does after a season of seeing it in the hallway.

Keeping a white helmet white

Let us be honest about the trade. A white gloss helmet shows road film, insects and fuel splashes more clearly than any other colour, and this one has a printed graphic under the clearcoat that you will be cleaning around.

Two rules make it manageable. Never wipe a dry shell — grit dragged across gloss leaves swirls that are permanent. And soak insects off with a wet cloth laid over them for a minute rather than scrubbing; insect remains are acidic and etch clearcoat if they are left through a hot afternoon.

What is under the paint

The Braker SV is MT's entry into the sport-touring class, developed alongside the Thunder 4 SV and inheriting that platform's approach. Shell is HIRP — High Impact Resistant Polymer — at around 1,525 g, homologated to ECE 22.06 and DOT.

The equipment list is longer than the price suggests: drop-down sun visor, MT-QVSS tool-free screen mechanism, three intakes, spoiler with integrated exhaust, universal intercom mount, nose deflector as standard.

What ECE 22.06 actually changed

Mandatory since January 2024. Against the 22.05: 18 impact points instead of five, several impact speeds instead of one, a rotational test against an abrasive anvil, and a Brain Injury Criterion limit.

The rotational test is the substantive change. Rotational acceleration is what causes diffuse axonal injury, and the previous standard never measured it — which is the practical reason not to keep riding in a 22.05 helmet just because it looks fine.

MT-QVSS

Two buttons, no tools, workable in gloves. The MT-V-28B screen comes off in seconds.

On a helmet with a graphic this detailed there is a second reason to care: the screen is the part that gets scratched, and a scratched screen on a helmet you are otherwise proud of is exactly the compromise people live with far too long. Being able to change it without finding a screwdriver is what stops that happening.

Sun visor

A single-action drop-down shade, deployed and retracted with one slider.

It is a sun visor, not a tinted screen: it will not be as dark as a good smoked visor, and it should not be. An internal shade that dark would be dangerous in a tunnel.

Anti-fog

The MT-V-28B is prepared for Pinlock DKS435 and the FogOff FOG010. Neither is in the box. A nose deflector is fitted as standard and does most of the work in mild conditions by keeping your breath out of the visor.

Ventilation

Three intakes at the front feed the shell; the integrated rear spoiler carries the exhaust. The through-flow is the point — intakes alone give you pressure and nothing else.

An honest note on the class: this is a good ventilation system for the money, not a track helmet's. In a stationary summer traffic queue any full-face gets warm, and this one is no exception.

Wind noise and the sport-touring compromise

A sport-touring shell is shaped between two demands that pull against each other. Tight and low is quiet and stable but cramped; roomier is comfortable over distance and catches more air.

The Braker SV sits in the middle, and we would not claim it is a quiet helmet. What decides noise for most riders is not the helmet anyway — it is the screen on the bike. A screen that sends turbulent air at the base of your helmet makes any lid loud, and a naked bike with clean flow is often quieter than a badly faired one. Wear plugs above 100 km/h regardless of what you are wearing on your head; hearing damage from wind is cumulative and silent until it is not.

Retention and interior

An MT-Micrometric+ ratchet, and a fully removable, washable lining with speaker pockets for a universal UCS intercom.

The pads settle a few millimetres in the first hours of riding. A helmet that is slightly firm on the cheeks when new ends up right; one that is comfortable in the shop usually ends up loose.

What it does not have

No safety rating.
