DescriptionThe whole story▼

The JP ACCGP KT016 fits the KTM 1090 Adventure R built between 2017 and 2019, the off-road-focused sibling of the standard 1090 with longer suspension travel and a riding position built around standing on the pegs. A shorter, sixty-degree rotation suits the deliberate throttle work this version is actually used for.

Key Features

  • KTM 1090 Adventure R (2017–2019)
  • GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
  • Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
  • CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
  • Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
  • Standard throttle assembly refits at any time

Built for the R in the Name

Where the standard 1090 Adventure spends most of its life on tarmac, the R version exists for forest tracks, gravel passes, and routes a road-biased adventure bike would struggle with, and its longer suspension travel changes how weight transfers under acceleration. A shorter throttle rotation suits that off-road bias, giving finer control exactly where loose surfaces punish an overly large input.

Standing, Not Sitting, Changes the Geometry

Riding this bike the way it's built to be ridden, standing on the pegs through rough sections, changes the angle and leverage a rider has over the throttle compared to sitting on a paved road. A wider rotation becomes harder to modulate precisely from that stance, and the shorter GP Series arc keeps fine control within easy reach regardless of riding position.

Long Travel Suspension, Short Throttle Travel

The R's extended suspension travel is built to absorb impacts a road-biased bike's suspension would transmit straight to the rider, and that same philosophy of precision under rough conditions extends to the throttle: a shorter rotation gives more control per degree of wrist movement exactly when the terrain is least predictable.

A Spring Firm Enough for Standing Riding

Standing on the pegs changes how a rider's hand grips and moves the throttle compared to sitting with a relaxed wrist, and the progressive spring's three external preload settings let an owner firm up the snap-back to suit that more active riding position rather than a setting tuned for seated road use.

Machined to Handle Impacts, Not Just Vibration

Built from solid Ergal rather than stamped sheet, the shorter cam is designed to hold its tolerances through the kind of impacts and rough handling an off-road-focused adventure bike actually experiences, conditions considerably harder on a part than the vibration a purely road-going motorcycle produces.

Fitted for the Trail, Reversible for the Road

Installation uses the stock connector and mounting points regardless of how the bike is used, with a diagnostic throttle position reset to finish, and the standard throttle refits just as easily if the bike later changes hands or returns to road-only duty.
