DescriptionThe whole story▼

A hugger on a homologation special is a curious object. It exists to protect a rear shock from road spray, and a good proportion of the motorcycles it is fitted to will never see a wet public road. The ones that do, though, are carrying a suspension unit that costs more to rebuild than most bikes cost to service.

Key Features

  • Swingarm-mounted rear mudguard with chain-side extension
  • Five versions, including raw and twill satin
  • Autoclave-cured laminate following the tyre radius
  • Original swingarm fixings, no drilling
  • Fits the full 2023-2026 model run

Track Use Changes the Case, Not the Answer

On a circuit this part stops very little water and quite a lot of rubber. Marbles picked up off the racing line get thrown at the shock body and the linkage every lap, and they arrive hot. That is an argument for fitting a hugger to a track bike rather than removing one, which is the opposite of what a lot of paddock advice suggests.

Some race regulations require the rear wheel to be shrouded at all. Check the rulebook for the series before removing anything from this area.

Fitment and Compatibility

BMW M1000RR, model years 2023 through 2026, on the standard swingarm fixings. The same article is listed for the S1000RR from 2019 onward and for the 2021-onward S1000R, which share this swingarm. Check clearance if a non-standard rear tyre size is fitted.

Road Approval

Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. Treat it as a replacement guard and confirm the position for your own registration before road use.

Five Versions on One Component

This is among the few articles offered across both weaves and all four surface treatments. For a bike that alternates between road and track, matt in 245 Twill is the pragmatic default: it takes stone strikes without showing a bright chip line and it does not need protecting from a tyre warmer cable dragged across it.
