DescriptionThe whole story▼
The aluminium beam frame of the S1000R is on show from both sides, and on a naked motorcycle that is a deliberate part of the design. These protectors cover the outer faces where a boot heel, a knee and the occasional garage wall reach them.
Key Features
- Set of frame protectors, left and right, direct replacement for the originals
- Available in 200 Plain and in 245 Twill
- Autoclave-cured laminate following the frame contour on both sides
- Original mounting points and fasteners, frame unmodified
- One of the few BMW articles offered in both weaves
Protection Is Not the Same as Crash Protection
These cover the frame against the wear that actually happens to a roadster: boot scuffing at the heel, abrasion where a knee grips, and the mark a wall leaves when the motorcycle is wheeled in sideways. That is worth having, and it is all they do.
A slide at road speed destroys them, as it would destroy anything of this shape and thickness. Riders who want the frame protected in a crash fit sliders and treat these as trim with a useful side effect.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW S1000R, model years 2013 to 2016, on the original protector mountings. The 2017-2020 facelift changed this area and the 2021 model is a new frame entirely.
Road Approval
Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. It is a cover and does not alter the frame, but confirm the position for your own registration before road use.
Carbon Against Bare Aluminium
These sit directly against a machined aluminium surface, which is the one place on the motorcycle where two very different materials meet with nothing in between. The contrast is the point, and it also sets a constraint.
Gloss carbon next to a satin-finished frame reflects differently from every angle and can read as an add-on rather than a part. Matt sits more naturally against aluminium, and plain weave in matt is the combination most owners settle on after seeing the parts fitted.
